Cyndi Lauper was one of the biggest stars of the 80s. However, before she released her hit record "She's So Unusual," she and her band Blue Angel released an album that garnered widespread acclaim but flopped financially. The band split, Lauper filed for bankruptcy in 1981 and began working in retail to support herself. Not long afterward she became a major and very rich star.
