How to Make Nutritious Family Dinners

Start Young

One of the most important things you can do when trying to feed your family healthy, balanced meals is to start young. Introduce children to all kinds of foods at an early age, and "don't bias your kids with your own preferences," says Fernstrom. If you're not a fan of Brussels sprouts, don't let your kids know!

Kids like a little variety but don't need a lot; it's okay if carrot and celery sticks are the only vegetables your son will eat, or if he wants to eat chicken fingers for dinner every night. As long as you make his meals as healthy as possible, and ensure he's getting carrot and celery sticks every day, you're doing fine.
