Edie Falco, well known on the HBO hit series The Sopranos as the tough-as-nails Carmela, wife of mob boss Tony Soprano, was diagnosed in 2003 and underwent treatment during the filming of the show's fifth season, in 2004. In 2000, Falco became the first actress to win the triple crown of television awards by sweeping the Emmys, Golden Globes and SAG Awards, all for her performance as Carmela. Prior to her work on The Sopranos, Falco had smaller recurring roles on both Law & Order and Oz. Mother to adopted son Anderson, Falco has been sober for more than 13 years.
