Stress at work or at home can cause migraines as well as highly pressured work week that's immediately followed by relaxation because of the sudden change of your internal environment. Time pressures, major losses, anger, conflict, heightened emotion of any kind, and depression can all bring on a migraine. Interestingly enough it's the day-to-day stresses that are most likely to bring on an attack. Important events that are charged with emotion like getting married, moving to a new home, even having a baby can unfortunately trigger a migraine. Anxiety in general can cause a migraine.

Learning to make time for your self and finding healthy ways to deal with stress or to minimize it are at the core of managing migraine attacks. Other approaches that can help include:

  • Biofeedback
  • Meditation
  • Exercise (so you de-stress through positive activity)
  • Getting enough sleep
