Walking, biking and swimming are all good ways to get the heart rate up and lower blood pressure. Swimming, in particular, is often recommended because it puts less pressure on joints.
Walking is an excellent way to start an exercise program, because all you need is a sturdy pair of walking shoes. Before taking a walk or engaging in moderate physical activity, warm up your body by marching in place for three to five minutes or doing side steps, followed by some brief stretching. After walking, cool down with a few more stretches.
If you have foot problems, hop on the stationary bike or join a water aerobics program. Figure out what works best for you and then go for it!
