"I think I was kind of a recluse as a child," LeAnn says. "I didn't really feel like I was growing into being a beautiful woman. I always had these big, scaly, itchy patches on my skin. I felt like I had something majorly wrong with me and that no one was ever going to love me."

Calling her self-esteem issues "severe," she says: "As I've gotten older, I found a great support system in my husband and found a great treatment. I know I'll have flares again but I think I feel better equipped to deal with it.”

And even during flare-ups you can still feel pretty, says LeAnn. "Clothing can change your whole life. Find things you can accentuate," she advises. "If [psoriasis] is not on your arms, play up your arms." She also suggests pampering yourself by getting a massage or buying rich lotions that soothe psoriasis.
