A few minutes of deep breathing can help to relax your muscles, release tension and even
alleviate pain, according to the National Institutes of Health. Try these tips for deep breathing from the American Academy of Family Physicians:
Lie down on a flat surface.
Place a hand on your stomach, just above your navel.
Place the other hand on your chest.
Breathe in slowly and try to make your stomach rise.
Hold your breath for a second.
Breathe out slowly and let your stomach go back down.
