Chocolate brown is the new neutral. I love it with a shiny finish, which makes it feel modern. I also love it in matte, which gives it a cozy feel. Brown needs to be paired with another color so it isn't overwhelming. Fortunately, it looks great with many different colors, like turquoise and green. At the very least, add a white accent to create instant dimension, as with this batik rug from West Elm. Try Mahogany from Farrow and Ball.
