From the first pair of training wheels to the last guided push, learning to ride a bike can give your child new-found confidence and independence. As a parent, it's important to give your child that independence while still keeping him safe.

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to preventing unintentional childhood injury, each year in the United States more than 130 children die from bicycle-related injuries and more than 280,000 are treated in emergency rooms. However, something as simple as properly fitted bike helmets could reduce the risk of bike-related brain injuries by 88%.
